Nigerian billionaire and industrial magnate Abdul Samad Rabiu has unveiled a bold incentive plan to motivate the Super Eagles as they pursue continental glory at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco. Rabiu’s pledge — announced in the wake of Nigeria’s thrilling quarter-final victory — ties significant financial rewards directly to the team’s performance in the final stages of the tournament. 

In a message shared on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account on Saturday, Rabiu congratulated the Super Eagles for their 2–0 win over Algeria, a result that saw Nigeria book their place in the AFCON semi-finals. Praising the players for lifting the spirit of the nation, the BUA Group chairman outlined a tiered bonus structure designed to spur the team on as they chase their next title. 

Under the plan:

• 🔹 $500,000 will be awarded to the squad if they secure victory in the semi-final.
• 🔹 An additional $50,000 for each goal scored in the semi-final will be paid.
• 🔹 Should Nigeria go on to win the AFCON final, Rabiu has promised a $1,000,000 bonus.
• 🔹 On top of that, $100,000 will be paid for every goal scored in the final. 

Taken together, the base rewards alone could total $1.5 million, before goal bonuses are added — a generous personal incentive that resonates with Nigeria’s passionate football culture and the players’ drive to bring home the trophy. 

Rabiu’s gesture comes as the Super Eagles prepare to face host nation Morocco in the AFCON semi-final on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, in Rabat.
